Pelvic floor physiotherapy

We treat men, women and children for problems such as:

  • urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence and urgency
  • anismus, encopresis, constipation, vesico-sphincteric dyssynergia, ano-rectal disorders

 

We treat women for problems such as :

  • vulvodynia, vestibulodynia, dyspareunia ( pain during sexual intercourse) vaginismus, pelvic pain
  • pain related to menopause, problems related to lichen sclerosis
  • prolapse of the bladder, rectocoele

 

We treat men for problems such as :

  • post prostatectomy incontinence
  • chronic pelvic pain ( often referred to as benign chronic prostatitis), genital pain, pain during sexual intercourse

 

We also provide pre-natal counselling for the prevention of pelvic floor disorders after delivery, as well as pre-operative counselling for the prevention of post-prostatectomy incontinence

 

A full evaluation of your condition, including an internal examination, may be done to establish a treatment plan that is right for you.  Treatments may consist of :

  • Education on your condition and individualised advice
  • An exercise program, which may include Kegels and exercises for your pelvis and lumbar spine
  • Biofeedback
  • Electrical stimulation (pain-free), Ultrasound

Our pelvic floor physiotherapists have trained and mentored with Claudia Brown and Marie-Josée Lord and have developed an advanced expertise in this field.  Claudia teaches the pelvic floor rehabilitation courses to student physiotherapists at McGill University.  Our clinic is part of the network of pelvic floor clinics owned by Claudia Brown and Marie-Josée Lord, called Physiothérapie UroSanté.
