TMJ (Temporo-mandibular Joint) dysfunction

If you have difficulty chewing, biting down or yawning, or if you have pain or clicking in your jaw, consult one of our physiotherapists.  The TMJ is a joint with cartilage and ligaments, nerves and muscles, and problems may arise from any one of these structures.  Treatment will target the problem area by the use of manual techniques, exercises, and practical advice.  We may also use ice, heat or electrotherapy to help to alleviate your symptoms.  If in doubt, contact your doctor or dentist to see if a physiotherapy consult may be indicated.
